Camp Sertoma

July 14th-19th, 2024

Confidence Learning Center has been the host site for Camp Sertoma of the Great Plains Region since 1999.

Camp Sertoma of the Great Plains Region provides a weeklong camp for youth who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing a safe atmosphere to build self-esteem and self-confidence in an environment free of communication barriers.

Campers are from both rural and metro areas and are surrounded by other youth with similar experiences and abilities as them. Activities provided during this week include education and recreational activities including basic animal care, basic cabin maintenance and cleaning, confidence course obstacles, Glass Bottom Boat rides, nature hikes and nature hayrides, and other activities to challenge self-esteem and self-confidence, and to teach essential skills.

“I love taking my clients to the activities that the Confidence Learning Center have available and the cabins they rent out are nice and clean. So many things for people to do! They work with adults, children and families that have disabilities both physical and mental diminished capacity. I feel the attention, help and involvement the staff give is awesome! They also do fund raising activities that helps run the facility! Truly a beautiful place and people! They have now started a Lions Club here! Hoping for great things from adding the club!”
