Mariucci Lodge

The late John Mariucci, the godfather of American hockey, was the kind of friend and supporter that comes along only once in a lifetime. “Maroosh” was committed to Confidence Learning Center and the people it serves.

One fall day several years ago, John said to the president and founder, Dick Endres: “Dick, I like the way you built the Center, with the campers in mind. But now you really are in need of a main lodge. Let's build one!” He then helped launch the Campaign for Mariucci Lodge. Although John is no longer with us today, his spirit and memory live on in the John Mariucci Lodge.

The need for the John Mariucci Lodge was great. The Lodge provides a significant benefit to the campers and their counselors by sheltering them and providing program space during inclement weather. The Lodge also provides space for a library, and serves as an education and resource center. Seminars, conferences, and workshops are held here to enhance the professional expertise of staff, interns and visiting professionals in the field of serving people with developmental disabilities. Adequate facilities for nature study, arts and crafts, audio-visual equipment and meeting rooms are also available.

The Lodge helps build self-esteem. It helps build confidence in the thousands of men, women and children who will use it on their road to personal freedom. The campers learn and grow through the use of the Arts Center, the Nature Center, and the multi-purpose room, and the nature area behind the lodge. Also located in The Lodge is the Camp Store.

There are eight winterized cabins and one primitive cabin as well as platform tents available to visiting groups. Two new cabins were constructed at the site of the Blandin Cabin. Each of the cabins are set up as small households complete with bathroom(s), kitchen, bedroom(s), and living areas. Sleeping is Bunk Style with four persons to a bedroom. Additional sleeping space is available via portable cots. Cots are used for all tents for sleeping. Groups that choose tenting have use of bath house with shower and toilets and outdoor cooking platforms, cooking supplies and refrigerator. All kitchens contain a refrigerator, stove, microwave and basic cooking equipment including dishes and silverware. Groups are responsible for their own bedding, person hygiene supplies and food. All cabins and tents have their own campfire pit.

Your cabin is your home while you are at CLC. It should be clean when you arrive and ready for the next occupants when you leave. Please keep it neat and orderly. Overnight groups are required to clean up after themselves at the end of their stay. Cleaning supplies will be made available on the last day or by request during the stay. If accommodations are not cleaned properly, a $100 cleaning fee will be issued. Visiting groups are also responsible for all damages.
